Digging for Roots Challenge 

I hail from Oxfordshire UK, where I’ve lived for the past 18 years, until I moved up north into halls for University. My hometown is a small place, a place where everyone knows everyone. The local area is filed with lots of fields and woodlands. Just behind the village is a hill that stretches for miles and at the basin you can find an abandoned quarry with a huge lake  thats water has turned a beautiful blue colour because of the chalk, It’s also where a part of Die Another Day was filmed.

I’m a very laid back person just like my old man and enjoy listening to my music which is all me and my dad talk about. I’ve know my best friend (Guy wearing the Hawaiian shirt xD) for 16 years and he is basically a brother, and I guess growing up in a quite village has made me the laid back person I am today.

I don’t know much about my family history, I’ve never really asked or been told. I guess it’s a mystery but after reading this challenge I’m more interested in finding out my roots.

Dragon Quest

Recently I  have been playing Dragon Quest IX on my 3DS, and It brings back memories of Dragon Quest VIII from  PS2.  The story does not follow from the previous game, however it is all in the same style that I love but most of the Dragon Quest games have this style which is why I wish I could play them all.

So far I’m enjoying the story line of the game. You play as a Celestrian, An invisible guardian who helps to protect a village from the shadows and keep them safe and happy. but after a mysterious event you loose your halo and wings and fall to the world of mortals, now tangible to everyone you must find out what happened and recover your Celestrain status and save the world.

I found out the other day that a new Dragon Quest title is going to be released in 2015! but western localization has not been confirmed yet. Fingers crossed. More information and trailer here:

Saving A Friend

Overheard Challenge

It’s been 2 years since we fought Necron in the Hill of Despair, Things have mostly been quite and I haven’t seen Zidane in a while. I hope he is well.

These days I travel around the world from town to town, still carrying my trusty Dragon’s Hair with me. I was on my way back to Alexandria when a carriage rolled past with two people on the front. As they looked like they were heading towards Alexandria I hopped in the back for a free ride.

A few hours later I awoke in the back. I could see out of a small rip of the back drapes that it was night time. There was a small orange glow so peaked outside and saw the two men around a campfire, I sat down near the exit of the carriage. Still out of site, looking up at the stars in the sky listening to their conversation…

“Hahahaha, yes I do like her. I was thinking of proposing when I get home after this job” one of the men said to the other.

“Aw, Yeah… this job should give us plenty of pay. Should we look at the bosses plans again?” the other responded.

“Okay, when we arrive at the performance tomorrow noon. Rally with the other groups and take position high above the stage. Near the back of the audience. About half way through Zidane has a death scene. Our plan is to make this scene a little more death like if you catch me.” the man explained.

“WHAT!?” I shouted, as I jumped out of the carriage Dragon’s Hair at the ready.

“Who are you!?” the men said as they drew swords.

“I am Freya Crescent, Dragon Knight and I demand you explain yourselves!”

After I got answers out of them, I started running towards Alexandria, I could make it in time! I reckon I had until 12:30pm before Zidanes scene.

As I came out the forest I could see Alexandria in the distance, I had about an hour left. Loads of time…

“Mwahahaha, where do you think you’re going Freya Crescent!” A female voice spoke from above.

As I looked up I barely had time to dodge her attack, as a mini creator appeared were I was standing. “She’s strong.” I whispered.

However I didn’t have time to dilly dally I was now going to be late. I paused for a moment. Placed Dragon’s Hair in the ground and focused my energy into my legs and my Spear. Entering Trance I grabbed my spear and jumped! focusing my energy now in my spear as I came down hitting the floor with tremendous force creating a gigantic creator. Which hopefully knocked my opponent away. This gave me enough time to get away and run towards Alexandria.

As i arrived I could see Zidane on the stage, it looked like he was about to be shot by one of the characters, was I to late! I looked up at the back and saw someone taking aim. I quickly focused energy in my spear and stepping forward making cracks from placing my feet threw Dragon’s Hair over the crowd, It looked like it made contact so I rushed over to the back as I got there my spear had pinned the sniper gun to the back wall. I tied up the bandits and  planned to hand them over, but first I wanted to watch the rest of the play.

I walked over to the middle of the balcony and looked over at the stage, Zidane was looking at me, He smiled. I smiled back.

Flow

In a world where everyone is born under a god disguised as animals. These gods can grant one wish to the human they are born with but not all gods are the same. Some are weaker than others and can only grant small wishes such as the Cat god which is the god of our protagonist Leerang.

Leerang being born under the Cat god has never been able to attend school as you need to have a stronger god to even attend school, however after a mistaken wish his life is turned upside down.

Being a Manhwa it is full colour and has a similar art style to other Manhwas such as Tower Of God, as I’m currently on chapter  45/60 I am not fully up to date yet but so far I’d say the story has good potential and is quite gripping, It’s a fairly new and on going manhwa which started mid 2013 so the story is still on the get go, but still has plenty to enjoy from the start.  Looking forward to catching up and seeing what happens to Leerang.

Talking about Pie, I have never eaten a pie. So talking about my relationship with pie is like  me and Pikachu. I know of you but we have never met. Haha talking about pie and anime comes up… I wonder if Pikachu would like pie? I seem to remember a scene where he eats pie and seems to enjoy it, so based on his wise judgement pie is good. Sorry short post, Don’t have much to say about Pie.

Naruto

It was a fun ride Naruto, but it’s finally over. Congratulations Naruto & Masashi Kishimoto for 15 years.

I wont post any spoilers for any of you who have not read the last chapter, but I had suspected how Naruto would end for a while and I was pretty dead on the money. However I am not displeased with the ending it was just expected. I’m happy with the way it ended.

Although word on the street is that next spring we will be getting a new Naruto Mini Series which sounds interesting. Also there is a film coming out soon ‘The Last: Naruto the Movie‘ which is cannon and set 2 years after the end of to days chapter so I’m excited to watch that.

Naruto was the anime that re-sparked my childhood. I used to watch One Piece and Dragon Ballz when I was young but forgot about them until 2010  when I watched the first episode of Naruto on my phone at midnight, I spent the whole summer watching it and since then I’ve been back into watching anime. So in a way I am thankful for Naruto because if it had not gotten me into anime again I would not be going to Expos in London or even writing this.

If you don’t know what Naruto is, you should defiantly go check it out 🙂

I went to a fireworks display this evening and it was beautiful to watch and for a minute I thought it was like a finale/celebration for the 15 years anniversary. 🙂

Death Note

What would you do with a book that could end lives?

Light Yagami a born genius discovers a book fallen from the skies called”Death Note” Inside are rules saying if a persons name is written they will  die of a heart attack 60 seconds from now, unless the writer states the cause of death.

This psychological thriller follows Light Yagami as he tries to rid the world of criminals or people he deems dishonest and become the new worlds ruler, until the world famous detective L starts investigating the unexplainable deaths of criminals. Light believes L will be his biggest annoyance which starts a cat and mouse game between the two.

This is defiantly one of my faviourte reads as you see both sides of the story. From the detectives “L” who is trying to capture Kira but keeping his real name secret as Light is trying to discover his real name to kill him using the Death Note, and Light who sees himself as a righteous man removing all the criminals in the world. Even though it seems like Light is the bad guy here, through reading the story you can’t decide who’s right. Although L is one of my favourite characters 😉

For anyone that likes psychological thrillers or reads that make you deeply think about what will happen next this is a must read! 😀 if you haven’t already read it.

First Case

Find a Muse in the Masters Challenge – Blank Slate

My names Henry R. Rodgers, I’ve been working in the police force most of my life. Protecting the people is what I’ve always wanted to do.

Last month I got promoted to an undercover detective to help solve local murder cases or anything that goes on and needs my skills.

The past month was fairly quite until last week when a man and child were killed just outside their home. I was put on the case to put the clues together and find the murderer.

I’ve been at the scene of the crime for about an hour, taking notes, taking samples and checking the local area for any possible clues.  I was just packing up when I heard a phone ringing near where I was, I frantically tried to find the ringing phone, I found it in the bushes behind the wall. I answered.

“Meet me at the Phillies half an hour before closing” Beep.

I pondered on what they meant, whose phone is this? Who was that? It sounded a lot like a woman. Still thinking about the phone call I finished packing up and went back to the office to work on my notes to see if I could come up with any ideas.

A few hours later after work when I arrived home I had decided that maybe I should go down to Phillies, what’s the harm in trying to discover more? but what if it’s a trap? I need to be discrete.

I looked up at the clock and saw 2:15am. I aimed to be there at 2:20am just before half an hour to. I put on a blue suit, tie and hat.

5 minutes later I arrived at Phillies and walked in, I was the only person in there apart form the barman and I walked to the other side of the room. Opposite the door with my back to the window so I could wait and see who came through the door. I pulled my hat down slightly to cover my face and waited…

10 minutes later a girl walked in with a man dressed in with a similar attire to me, as she ordered a drink I recognized her voice from the phone! I calmly pondered on my next move.

The Breaker

Shi-Woon Yi was never any good at physical sports, had always been smaller than everyone else and always got bullied, pushed around and kicked down. Until he witnessed one of the new substitute teachers defending him with immense martial art skills.

He begs to be taught by this teacher to learn to become strong, but the teacher refuses at first. He eventually agrees but only if Shi-Woon Yi can prove he has the skills worthy of becoming his disciple. Little did he know, his new teacher is a world famous master with a mastery of nine martial arts! Shi-Woon Yi now thrown into the deep end of a new world, he must defend himself against new foes.

I personally enjoy this manhwa as it contains lots intense fight scenes with an awesome art style that makes it intense to read, but it’s not all about the fighting. The back story of why everything is happening is very engrossing . Watching Shi-Woon grow from a bullied student to being able to defend himself and lead. However things start to go sour when his his masters true identity is revealed and the school comes under fire from a mysterious martial arts society.

The Breaker is only the 1st season, the story continues in The Breaker: New Waves.

Life Changing

The Butterfly Effect Challenge

2 years ago I finished College, applied to university as many students do, but I only got into 2 out of the 5 university’s that I had applied to. One of them was my second option and I wasn’t sure what to do, I wasn’t even sure weather I’d chosen something I’d want to do for the rest of my life.

So my aunt being the guru she is, sat me down and said “You can go to university now, or wait a year and truly decide what you want to do.” After weeks of thought I decided to skip university this year, do an extra year of college and hone my skills through university feedback. but little did I know going back to college was one of the greatest decisions I’d made.

I met the girl of my dreams and I still think what if I’d gone to university that year. We’d never have met. If it wasn’t for her I never would have had the idea of writing a blog.
